Lily Allen Returns…Soon.

Lily Allen is ready to face the music. The sassy songtress is out of retirement and playing around in the studio. According to ‘Daily Star,’ Allen is writing new music at RAK Studios in St John’s Wood, London and may treat us with an LP in 2013.
A new record from Lily Allen would be great but let’s not get too excited. According to a source from Allen’s camp:
‘Lily has been in the studio trying different sounds and writing new tracks. She’s not at a stage where she can start recording but the new album is definitely underway, and there’s a chance it could be released early next year.’
So we can expect to hear something from Lily in 2013 but what exactly convinced her to come out of retirement? The same person from Allen’s camp said:
“When Lily retired she honestly thought she’d never record again. But she started writing for the new Bridget Jones musical and that gave her the bug back.”
As far as subject matter, what should we expect? Allen’s source continued with:
“Her life has changed so much since her last album and she now has a different perspective. Lily wants a more mature sound and is penning tracks about [daughter] Ethel and [husband] Sam.”
This next record should be interesting. To see the change that motherhood has had on Allen’s music will be refreshing to hear but hopefully she’ll still have that sass that made ‘Smile’ such a hit.

Though news on Lily Allen is great, the fact that there’s a Bridget Jones musical must have peaked your interest…

Well, currently the musical is being tested on London audiences but unfortunately, the musical’s Bridget Jones, Sheridan Smith, pulled out of the project so it’s currently on hold. Looks like the show’s search for that perfect leading lady is mimicking Jones’ search for the right man.

Maybe Ms. Zellweger could reprise her role on the London stage. She wasn’t bad in the film adaptation of ‘Chicago.’

Clearing the Air: Are Justin Bieber And One Direction Collaborating?

Rumors about Justin Bieber and One Direction making a track together have been the main focus in the world of music the past few days. This news remains a rumor but doesn’t mean it’ll never come true. Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun said that ‘A collaboration is possible.’ and that Justin ‘likes them and thinks they’re good dudes.’
That collaboration just won’t be happening now. The catalyst that spurred this talk of a Bieber/One Direction collaboration was a tweet from One Direction mentioning that they were visiting Justin’s studio and a tweet saying ‘expect the unexpected.’
While musicians plus a studio sounds like musical fusion, One Direction said otherwise when speaking to MTV. The boys said they were just hanging out and listening to some tracks Justin wanted them to hear. But don’t get too upset Bieber and 1D fans. It looks like the chances of this collaboration happening are high.

The World Of Lana Del Rey: John Mayer and 2 New Demos

With things being pretty calm on the Lana Del Rey front, we get the gift of two demos from the artist. ‘Lift Your Eyes’ and a snippet from a mix-tape entitled ’Ride Or Die,’ it looks like Del Rey has quite a few things lined up after the release of her first record ‘Born To Die.’
Not only were we graced with Lana’s voice but John Meyer decided to take Del Rey’s ‘Video Games’ and put his own spin on it. Due to health issues, you won’t hear Mayer’s voice but he does a rendition of ‘Video Games’ with his trusty guitar. The cover sounds great and Del Rey and Mayer should definitely consider collaborating.

Gaga Releases The Full Line-Up Of European Tour Dates

Little Monsters have a reason to celebrate…well, the ones who live in Europe do. Mother Monster released the full list of European tour dates for her highly anticipated concert, ‘The Born This Way Ball.’

Gaga also announced that her opener will be ‘The Darkness,’ a British band who split in 2006 but are now back together and are known for fusing pop and metal, two of Gaga’s favorite genres.

European Monsters all over are rejoicing while Little Monsters in America await the list of dates for the American leg of the tour.

If you can’t handle the wait, you can always bag your bags, hop on a plane and see Gaga in Europe.

Jessie J Drops Her New Single ‘Laserlight’

Jessie J dropped her new single ‘Laserlight’ along with a video. With the help of David Guetta, Jessie J is definitely trying to score that summer hit.
While the beat is great, the chorus isn’t the catchiest which is one of the qualities that make a great summer anthem. But after listening to ‘Laserlight’ a few times over, the song grows on you. With Jessie’s great vocals and the heartwarming lyrics, you can’t help but smile and dance along.
Putting David Guetta on the track was a good move with the success his music has bought him and ‘Laserlight’ definitely has potential but it’ll take time. Hopefully it’ll be number one on the charts before summer is out.
